“We have learned nothing”

12 years after 9/11, the President of the United States is ARMING al Qaeda.

Yup. Obama sent ... literally ... a boatload of weaponry to the Syrian rebels. Who are allied with AQ.

Read it. RCOB guaranteed.

Does everyone understand what is going on? The United States, one day after the 12 year anniversary of the 9/11 Terror Attacks, has now contributed arms to the cause of those same people who perpetrated them. We are now actively supporting a terrorist network, not just a terrorist network, THE terrorist network. It has taken 12 years for the United States government to forget the names of those responsible for thousands of American dead, it has taken 12 years for the government to decide that those lives, and the sacrifice of thousands of service members do not matter anymore. This should hurt, and it should hurt a lot.

Obama Delays Syria Strike

Breaking news ...

Obama has asked the Senate to DELAY voting on the Syria strike he asked for.

Waffle, waffle, waffle.

Seems the Russkies had some offer in front of the UN (all your WMDs is belong to us), but they have now withdrawn that. So Obobo now wants a delay.

Fox Snooze has Shiela Jackson-Lee on TV now, trying to spew some BS and make some spin.

Obama delays the vote ... that’s a loooong way from him having the moxie to act on his own when that Red Line gets crossed. Which it did. But it didn’t. Which he called for. But he didn’t. So he put things to Congress to vote on. But now he didn’t.  What a waffle wiener.

image

waffle wiener. Onna stick!

President Obama, hours before his address to the nation on Syria, found his foreign policy in danger Tuesday of being hijacked by Vladimir Putin and his own Congress.

The president, along with Secretary of State John Kerry, is still pushing for a possible vote in Congress to authorize military force in response to a chemical weapons attack last month. At the same time, his administration is pursuing a diplomatic proposal that would have the Assad regime turn over its chemical weapons to international control.

But one of his top congressional allies, as well as Putin himself, are now calling for Congress to back off the strike vote.

Putin reportedly said Tuesday that the only way the diplomatic option can work is if “we hear that the American side and all those who support the United States in this sense reject the use of force.”

The comment came as Syria’s foreign minister embraced the proposal to turn over chemical weapons. The official said Tuesday that Syria would declare its chemical weapons arsenal and sign the chemical weapons convention.

Earlier in the day, House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi also claimed there was no need for a congressional vote.

“It is not necessary for Congress to give the president this authority,” Pelosi said. “We are grateful that he has asked for it but if he sees an opportunity we don’t want the Russians to think that his leverage is diminished because of a vote (that) may or may not succeed within the Congress.”

The push-back from Washington and Moscow poses a challenge for Obama, as he finds himself caught between two very different paths on Syria—a missile strike that potentially drags the U.S. into a bloody civil war, and a diplomatic solution that would likely do little to end that war.

yeah yeah yeah, yadda yadda ya

Spring Has Sprung

Three bits of news flying a bit below the radar ...

So much for Obama’s Arab Spring. Libya has become a anarchist hellhole. Thanks ever so much, Barry.

A little under two years ago, Philip Hammond, the Defence Secretary, urged British businessmen to begin “packing their suitcases” and to fly to Libya to share in the reconstruction of the country and exploit an anticipated boom in natural resources.

Yet now Libya has almost entirely stopped producing oil as the government loses control of much of the country to militia fighters.

Mutinying security men have taken over oil ports on the Mediterranean and are seeking to sell crude oil on the black market. Ali Zeidan, Libya’s Prime Minister, has threatened to “bomb from the air and the sea” any oil tanker trying to pick up the illicit oil from the oil terminal guards, who are mostly former rebels who overthrew Muammar Gaddafi and have been on strike over low pay and alleged government corruption since July.

...

Libyans are increasingly at the mercy of militias which act outside the law. Popular protests against militiamen have been met with gunfire; 31 demonstrators were shot dead and many others wounded as they protested outside the barracks of “the Libyan Shield Brigade” in the eastern capital Benghazi in June.

Though the Nato intervention against Gaddafi was justified as a humanitarian response to the threat that Gaddafi’s tanks would slaughter dissidents in Benghazi, the international community has ignored the escalating violence. The foreign media, which once filled the hotels of Benghazi and Tripoli, have likewise paid little attention to the near collapse of the central government.

Oh, well done.

We paid how much??? A billion? And most of it went to the Dem’s buddy, the guy in charge it now seems like we want to depose? Or nuke, bomb, or send nasty letters to? What’s up with that??

U.S. Spent $1,010,354,195 on Syrian Humanitarian Aid 2012-2013

U.S. taxpayers have spent at least $1,010,354,195 on Syrian humanitarian aid for fiscal years 2012 and 2013, according to official numbers from the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).

USAID, which was created by President John F. Kennedy, is the federal government’s primary agency in charge of distributing civilian foreign aid.

Last month, President Barack Obama pledged $195 million in additional humanitarian support to Syrians affected by the country’s civil war, tipping U.S. taxpayer spending over the $1 billion threshold.

“To help the many Syrians in need this Eid al-Fitr, the United States is providing an additional $195 million in food aid and other humanitarian aid, bringing our humanitarian contribution to the Syrian people to over $1 billion since the crisis began,” Obama said in a White House statement. “For millions of Americans, Eid is part of a great tapestry of America’s many traditions, and I wish all Muslims a blessed and joyful celebration. Eid Mubarak.”

Hark unto Captain Bullshit, above.

“The vast majority of aid is going to territory controlled by President Bashar al-Assad, and the small amount reaching opposition-held areas is all but invisible,” the New York Times reported.

Humanitarian workers in Syria like Ghassan Hitto, the chief coordinator for the Western-backed Syrian national coalition, say they are frustrated with the poorly-run relief efforts.

“We believe we are owed an explanation over where this money is going, but every time we ask, we can’t get an answer.”

This is how it works in any tin-pot dictatorship we flood with cash. Nearly all of it gets stolen by the leaders, and the rest is used as a weapon against the local opposition. Every. Single. Time. So let’s do it again, harder. Idiots.

That terrible military junta in Egypt ... is kicking the shi-ite out of the Muslim Brotherhood. Ooorah!

Egypt launches Sinai offensive targeting Islamic militant hideouts

Egyptian helicopter gunships and tanks pounded suspected hideouts of Islamic militants in the northern Sinai Peninsula on Saturday, in what officials described as a major new offensive in the insurgent stronghold. Residents who witnessed winding columns of trucks and armoured vehicles pour into the area said the operation was one of the largest there in years.

A security official said “dozens” of insurgent suspects were killed and wounded in the Sinai offensive, which comes two days after a failed suicide bombing targeting the country’s top policeman in Cairo. Smoke could be seen rising from the towns of Rafah and Sheikh Zuweyid, and troops set up a cordon to prevent militants from escaping as others combed the area, he said.

The northern Sinai, which adjoins Israel and the Palestinian Gaza Strip, has long been a haven for militants including al-Qaida-inspired groups. Attacks have spiked in the area since Morsi’s July 3 ouster, prompting the latest army offensive.

In the past, militants used a vast network of underground tunnels linking Egypt with Gaza as a way to escape security crackdowns. However, over the past two months, the military has destroyed more than 80 per cent of them, stemming the flow of weapons, militants and goods into Gaza, a territory under an Israeli-imposed blockade.
...
The government says it is waging a “war on terrorism” against both the Sinai militants and supporters of Morsi, whose Muslim Brotherhood has organized street demonstrations to protest his overthrow and government assaults on protest encampments. Some followers have also staged apparent retaliatory attacks against police stations, churches, and other targets.

back for a brand new season of laffs and guffaws. the three stooges reborn. thank you.

Seeing this in today’s paper , I wondered what some really goofy looking photos of Cameron and Obama might look like alongside the president of France, shown here.  The Three Stooges, circa 2013.  I’d have liked to make it four but, believe it or not, even tho I searched, I couldn’t find a really silly or stupid looking real photo (not phtoshop) of John “Lurch” Kerry.

Well anyway ....  President Hollande of France says he will not take France into a bombing campaign against Syria all on its own.  He says if America goes in then so will France.

So here. For your amusement and ridicule, and snide remarks too.  Ladies and gentlemen of bmews may it please you. I present our glorious wartime leaders for the year of our lord 2013.  The Three Stooges are baaaaak.  Yuk,Yuk

Who looks stupid now? Bid to ban picture that made French President look like a grinning idiot backfires as bizarre shot goes viral

Picture of Hollande gurning was released by French agency AFP
It was quickly withdrawn, sparking a censorship row
AFP is state-funded, but insists it was not asked to pull picture

By Daily Mail Reporter

This unflattering picture of Francois Hollande sparked a censorship row yesterday.

It shows the French President with a gormless-looking grin at a school to coincide with the start of the new term.

The image was released by a photo agency. And when the agency tried to withdraw it from circulation, the photo quickly hit social media sites like Twitter and went worldwide.

The photo shows Hollande grinning in front of a blackboard on which is written: ‘Today, it’s back to school.’

The photograph was taken on Tuesday during Mr Hollande’s visit to a school in Denain, northern France, to coincide with the start of term for hundreds of thousands of French pupils. It appears he was pulling a funny face to make the pupils laugh.

The original image came with the caption: ‘During a visit to the school Denain Michelet, September 3, 2013, Francois Hollande smiles, chairing a panel discussion on the reform of school timetables established by the government.’

AFP initially posted the picture on its website as available for downloading but – apparently concerned it was inappropriate for a head of state – both later issued a ‘mandatory kill’ notice, meaning the photo must not be used.

AFP wrote: ‘Due to an editorial decision this photo has been withdrawn. Please remove from all your systems. We are sorry for any inconvenience and thank you for your cooperation.’

Despite the ban, however, the image quickly hit social media sites like Twitter, and sparked a flurry of comments.

One wrote: ‘Here is the new official photo of François Hollande. Please put up in all town halls!’

Another wrote that no amount of Photoshop editing software ‘can make the president look more intelligent’.

Mirror Mirror On The Wall …

Sarah Palin mocks Obama for his Syria bumbling

So we’re bombing Syria because Syria is bombing Syria? And I’m the idiot?” So, said Sarah Palin Friday evening.

Her sharply sarcastic statement, posted on her Facebook page as usual, followed President Obama’s latest global update on his unusually long deliberations over what he describes as a minor reaction to Syria’s use of chemical weapons against Syrians. Fifty-three weeks ago Obama drew a red line in the sand, saying:

“We have been very clear to the Assad regime but also to other players on the ground, that a red line for us is; we start seeing a whole bunch of chemical weapons moving around or being utilized. That would change my calculus; that would change my equation.”

Last winter Bashar Assad used chemical weapons, killing a few hundred of his countrymen, country-women and country-children. No White House action then.

As one result, more than two weeks ago the Syrian dictator once more used these weapons, killing more than 1,400 men, women and children in the capital’s suburbs. Again, no immediate U.S. reaction. Only when the public and congressional drumbeat increased, did the administration speak out. Obama consulted with allies. John Kerry talked imminent serious military action. Britain’s Parliament said, “Uh, no, not us.”

Obama’s point has been that there should be some consequences for violating international norms about chemical weapons.

Stuck in his own painted-corner, Obama hesitates further, adding to his perceived weakness abroad and puzzling even sympathetic supporters. So long after the crime, the Democrat’s planned punishment, whatever it is, now looks more like a lash-out for his own humiliation by the skinny Syrian.

Today, Obama said he envisioned only a “limited, narrow act” with no “open-ended commitment” and no “boots on the ground approach.” Then, despite the limited, simple steps he has in mind, Obama dithers more, repeating, “I have not made any decisions.”

Reminds us of someone’s angry mother telling a misbehaving son, “Boy, are you in trouble when your father gets home from his business trip next week.” By which time, no one remembers the crime.

Both barrels Sarah, reload, repeat.

Dodgeball

Mr. Blameless

After shooting his mouth off for weeks over the poison gas in Syria situation, after drawing umpteen red lines in the sand, after being Mr. Tough Guy who was going to Punish His Enemies and Do What Is Right even if he had to Ignore Congress, even if he had to Go It Alone ... Oblameless, now that he’s found out that the UK, France, Germany, and everyone and anyone else out there who can actually drop bombs or shoot off missiles wants no part in this ... now he’s going to let Congress make the decision. You see, that way, if THEY say NO, it ain’t his fault.

What a two-faced chicken shit we have for a pResident.

President Obama announced Saturday that he has concluded the United States should take military action against Syrian President Bashar al-Assad and his regime for using chemical weapons on civilians, but will first seek authorization from Congress.

“This menace must be confronted,” Obama said of the Assad regime’s alleged strike, speaking from the Rose Garden.

The announcement, though, sets up a timetable for debate that could drag on for weeks.

Obama said he would wait for Congress to return from recess; members are not scheduled to return until Sept. 9. Yet the president claimed any military response to Syria is “not time sensitive” and would be effective even one month from now.

The decision to seek congressional authorization is a departure from the administration’s decision to intervene in Libya in 2011. Though the president said he thinks he has the authority to order a military strike, he made clear he will ask Congress to vote on the issue.

“I have decided that the United States should take military action against Syrian regime targets,” the president said. He added: “I’m also mindful that I’m president of the world’s oldest constitutional democracy.”

imageSo you know what is going to happen: nothing. If it ever even comes to a vote, the civil war in Syria could be over by then. If it does come to a vote, it’s pretty much a guarantee that no authorization will be forthcoming.

So I guess I’ll have to put away Conservative mirror and my collection of old leftist memes I was so ready to reflect back at him ...

“Mr. pResident, why are you rushing us to war?”
“Unilateral! Unilateral!! Unilateral!!!”
“Wrong war for the wrong reason at the wrong time”
“No evidence!!!!”

And as much as I hate to say it, by shirking responsibility, Obama winds up doing the right thing: nothing. Because there is NO way for the USA to win here. No way. We bomb the country, we’re baby killers and the entire pisslamic world rises up in anger, again, as usual, Islamic Rage Boy with a pancake on his head, let’s go burn some nuns in Africa. We take out Asswad, and we’re international assassins run by the CIA and no nation or leader on earth is safe. We blow up the entire Syrian government, and the rebels and their terrorist group wins. We blow up the rebels, and the Syrain government and their terrorist group wins. We arm either side, we’re supporting terrorists. We arm BOTH sides, we’re supporting even more terrorists.

So just walk away.

But Obama, he’s the ultimate pro at this kind of game. He shoots his mouth off, dithers forever, walks away doing nothing (aka “votes present"), AND finds somebody else to blame it on.

Crivens.

Sounds Like A No Brainer To Me

The other kind of no-brainer. Not the one that’s a dead easy decision. The one that’s caused by having no brain.

Obama Dithers As Egypt Burns
image

As Egypt descends into chaos, President Obama is facing increasing criticism that an “incoherent” policy toward the country—much like U.S. policy toward Syria—is putting U.S. money and influence on the line without a clear end-game.

The Obama administration claims to be staying neutral in the violent confrontation between the military-backed government and Muslim Brotherhood supporters of ousted President Mohammed Morsi. More than 600 people have been killed so far across the country.

“America cannot determine the future of Egypt,” Obama said Thursday, in brief remarks from Martha’s Vineyard, where he’s vacationing, as he appealed for calm and condemned the violence.

Yet the administration is sending mixed signals. While the president directly spoke out against the military-backed government on Thursday—and canceled upcoming joint military exercises—the U.S. has refused to label Morsi’s ouster a coup. That means, under U.S. law, the administration can continue to send $1.5 billion in annual aid to the Egyptian government.

The mixed signals raise concern that the U.S. is simply breeding distrust on both sides.

...

“While President Obama ‘condemns the violence in Egypt,’ his administration continues to send billions of taxpayer dollars to help pay for it,” Sen. Rand Paul, R-Ky., said in a statement on Thursday.

John Bolton, former U.S. ambassador to the U.N. under the George W. Bush administration, called the current policy “completely incoherent.”

“You can’t have your press secretary say ... that this is up for Egyptians to answer, and then try and get in the middle of it,” Bolton said.

Yeah, well, this isn’t exactly something new. Didn’t we hear that same fiddle playing in Iraq? Seems to me we’ve heard it over here any number of times as well.

Yup, when it’s time to choose sides, when it’s time to make a real decision, up or down, friend or foe, black or white, Obama votes “present”. As usual.

Hey, I know what! Let’s send John Effin’ Kerry over there. He’s our Secretary of State. He can solve this, I’m sure. He served in Vietnam you know.

At least 638 people were confirmed killed and nearly 4,000 wounded in Wednesday’s violence, sparked when riot police backed by armored vehicles, snipers and bulldozers smashed the two sit-ins in Cairo where ousted President Mohammed Morsi’s supporters had been camped out for six weeks to demand his reinstatement.

...

President Barack Obama canceled joint U.S.-Egypt military exercises scheduled for next month, although he gave no indication that the U.S. planned to cut off its $1.3 billion in annual military aid to the country. The U.S. administration has avoided declaring Morsi’s ouster a coup, which would force it to suspend the military aid.

“While we want to sustain our relationship with Egypt, our traditional cooperation cannot continue as usual when civilians are being killed in the streets and rights are being rolled back,” Obama said, speaking from his weeklong vacation in Massachusetts.

Egypt’s interim government issued a late night statement saying the country is facing “terrorist actions targeting government and vital institutions” by “violent militant groups.” The statement expressed “sadness” for the killings of Egyptians and pledged to work on restoring law and order.

The statement also warned that Obama’s position “while it’s not based on facts can empower the violent militant groups and encourage them in its anti-stability discourse.”

Burn The Heretics

Rodeo Clown Story Becoming A Witch Hunt

On Tuesday, the Missouri State National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) issued a statement asking for federal involvement in the case of a rodeo clown who wore an Obama mask and then asked the crowd if they’d like to see Obama run down by a bull. “The activities at the Missouri State Fair targeting and inciting violence against our President are serious and warrant a full review by both the Secret Service and the Justice Department,” said State President Mary Ratliff. “Incidents involving individuals acting out with extreme violent behavior in movie theaters, schools, churches, political appearances, and outdoor events in general speaks volume to the irresponsible behavior of all the parties involved with the incendiary events at the Missouri State Fair.”

So now the rodeo clown is out of a job forever. And he has to go to Camp Ayers for sensitivity training. And the announcer and the rodeo president have been forced to resign. And now the NAACP wants to bring federal charges to bear.

WTF. WTF?? Oh, I get it: Thou shalt not take the name of the Lord thy God in vain

But the last guy who was President ... it was not just OK to mock on him, it was somehow the highest form of patriotism. So we got essays, books, and movies about assassinating him. And he was derided in the press every single day for 8 years. And the target of comedians and late night talk show hosts on TV. And you couldn’t hardly click a mouse online without seeing a picture of him portrayed as a chimpanzee. Only President in history that had a prime time sitcom devoted to mocking him as a trigger happy imbecile. And a cartoon series that did the same. And all that was wonderful. The hate filled left worked themselves into such a rabid lather so often that psychologists came up with a new mental disorder: Bush Derangement Syndrome.

But this guy ... not one word of criticism is allowed. Not one joke. Or else RACIST!! Because he’s half-white you know. Far more a “white-black” than George Zimmerman is a “white hispanic”. But these days the old “one drop” rule works the other way (for everyone except Zimmerman). So mentioning the mom jeans, the faggola vacation bicycle, a million rounds of golf, or that he throws like a girl ... RACIST.

http://washingtonexaminer.com/article/2534213
http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2013/aug/13/rodeo-clowns-asked-take-sensitivity-training/

Sondra K has a great, but long, post on it: The Republic Is Dead. And she’s right. It’s disgusting. It’s sickening. And it will only get worse. Free Speech exists only for the people in power and their friends. Not for you. You clown.

You have been warned. Here in Black Run America, this halfrican is sacrosanct. Above the law, and above reproach. Show respect. OR ELSE.

(not that this is anything new. Anyone who asked anything about him during the 2008 campaign, or questioned his stances, was immediately hammered into oblivion as a racist. Because the campaign wasn’t about race at all. Remember how it took the late night TV guys YEARS to crack a single Obama joke? Because ... he just wasn’t funny. And they weren’t kidding.)

Get your drone hunting license!

This is too good!

Deer Trail, a small Colorado town, is considering an ordinance that would allow its residents to hunt for federal drones and shoot them down.

The ordinance states, “the Town of Deer Trail shall issue a reward of $100 to any shooter who presents a valid hunting license and the following identifiable parts of an unmanned aerial vehicle whose markings and configuration are consistent with those used on any similar craft known to be owned or operated by the United States federal government.”

If passed by the town board, Deer Trail would charge $25 for drone hunting licenses and they would be valid for one year.

The Feds and Obama better wake up. The country is in almost total revolt over ObamaCare, drones, NSA spying, Moochelle’s school lunches, etc.

Of course they are. Any doofus could see that, even if he can’t see Russia from his house.

A B- effort from Bill Whittle, because he goes on so long with so many points in the middle of this that you forget where he’s going. Using a few dozen bullet points on the old blackboard, a la Glenn Beck, would have helped tremendously.

Wonder Where That Came From???

Egypt: Jihadis Fired A Hellfire Missile At Us

A bit lost in the shuffle is the fact that when the Egyptian Army threw out Morsi, the very first thing they did was shut down the border with Gaza. Sealed. Crushed the tunnels, closed the crossing points. And Hamas, which is really big in Gaza, is suffering.

Yeah, how awful that Egypt is having a step backwards on the road to a democratic government. IMO, let the army kill all the terrorists and all the Muslim Brotherhood (long a thorn in the side over there) and a whole crapload of radical imams, and then go play the democracy game.

But in the mean time ...

Egypt claims jihadists fired US Hellfire missile at government office

Jihadists in Egypt’s lawless Sinai Peninsula are using U.S. weapons to carry out attacks against the temporary government in the wake of the military’s ouster of President Mohammed Morsi, according to the embattled nation’s Interior Ministry.

The government office posted an official statement on its Facebook page along with images of an exploded missile that hit the third floor of a building in the city of el-Arish last week. The post said terrorist forces targeted the North Sinai Security Directorate office with a ballistic missile that struck the third floor facade of the building, leaving three soldiers injured. While attacks in the Sinai, which borders Gaza and is a haven for terrorist activity, have become commonplace, the prospect that militants have U.S. weapons typically fired from helicopters at their disposal is especially alarming.

Three photos of the missile posted by the government agency shows that it appears to be an AGM-114F with a label written in English and the letters “U.S.” stenciled on the side.

Gak. As bad as journalists and guns ... they never get it right. The little Hellfire is a “ballistic missile” only in that if you fire it upwards, eventually it will come down. It’s not AT ALL an ICBM, one of those globe spanning MIRV nukes we used to worry about during the Cold War. That’s what we think of when we hear “ballistic missile”. It’s a tiny little thing which only weighs 100 lb or so.

Reports of U.S.-made weapons turning up in the Sinai date back to at least January, when six U.S.-made missiles were found in a cache of weapons bound for Gaza. And in February, FoxNews.com reported exclusively that weapons left over from the revolution in Libya were being sold at clandestine auctions is the Sinai Peninsula. The U.S. has repeatedly denied arming the Libyan rebels, though it did assist them in other ways with the overthrow of longtime Libyan strongman Muammar Qaddafi.

Riiight. We all know about that. No arms at all, especially not those 20,000 MANPADS gone missing. Or that those AQ-leaning Tauregs fighting for hire in Libya somehow picked up enough arms to allow them to go and take over Mali. No, nothing to see here, move along.

Hellfire missiles in the hands of jihadis? Shit. It’s only a matter of time until airliners start falling from the sky like autumn leaves.

No wonder the economy sux

Wow. Economy Racing Along at 1.7 percent (after government “adjustment")

U.S. economic growth accelerated in the April-June quarter to a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 1.7 percent, as businesses spent more and the federal government cut less.

The Commerce Department says growth improved from a sluggish 1.1 percent rate in the January-March quarter, which was revised from an initial 1.8 percent rate. The pickup in growth was surprising as most economists predicted a far weaker second quarter.

Gee, ya think the economic mentat at 1600 Pennsy has anything to do with that?

The New York Times reports that President Obama is reviving an old proposal to lower the corporate tax rate from 35 percent to 28 percent (and 25 percent for manufacturers). Obama’s push to lower the corporate tax rate to 28 percent comes less than a year after he raised the top individual income tax rate, paid by many small businesses, to 39.6 percent.

In a speech delivered Tuesday afternoon, Obama did not explain why he thinks it’s a sound economic idea to raise the top marginal tax rate on small businesses but lower it for corporations.

Because, after all, it’s small businesses that create the majority of jobs in this country. So soak them 40%. And don’t forget - they pay taxes off the top, whereas corporations pay taxes off the bottom. Plus corporations have access to all sorts of big dollar tax breaks us mere mortals can’t even dream of. So lower their tax rate to “incentivise” (gak I hate that “word") them to not offshore more jobs.

What a dope. And we’ll be paying for his stupid for decades and decades.

PS - the stock market is on fire today, the DJI shooting up at least 110 points so far. Which just shows you how great the reality disconnect is between the market and the real world. The Dow Jones has almost nothing to do with the health of the economy.

Not that very many people ever read this far down, but this blog was the creation of Allan Kelly and his friend Vilmar. Vilmar moved on to his own blog some time ago, and Allan ran this place alone until his sudden and unexpected death partway through 2006. We all miss him. A lot. Even though he is gone this site will always still be more than a little bit his. We who are left to carry on the BMEWS tradition owe him a great debt of gratitude, and we hope to be able to pay that back by following his last advice to us all:
  1. Keep a firm grasp of Right and Wrong
  2. Stay involved with government on every level and don't let those bastards get away with a thing
  3. Use every legal means to defend yourself in the event of real internal trouble, and, most importantly:
  4. Keep talking to each other, whether here or elsewhere
It's been a long strange trip without you Skipper, but thanks for pointing us in the right direction and giving us a swift kick in the behind to get us going. Keep lookin' down on us, will ya? Thanks.

Oh, and here's some kind of visitor flag counter thingy. Hey, all the cool blogs have one, so I should too. The Visitors Online thingy up at the top doesn't count anything, but it looks neat. It had better, since I paid actual money for it.
